1、stop doing/to do

stop to do终止，终断做某件事完去做另一件事。

stop doing停止做某事。

They stop to smoke a cigarette. 她们慢下来，抽了一支烟。

I must stop smoking……我务必戒烟戒酒了。

2、forget doing/to do

forget to do忘掉要去做某件事。（未做）

He forgot turning the light off.

他忘了他早已关了灯了。（已做了熄灯的姿势）

4、regret doing/to do

regret to do 对要做的事缺憾。（未做）

regret doing 对做了的事缺憾、后悔莫及。（已做）

我很遗憾务必那样去做，我确实没有办法。

I don’t regret telling her what I thought.

我不会为告知她我的想法而后悔莫及。

5、cease doing/to do

cease to do 长期，乃至始终停做某件事。

cease doing 短时间停止做某事，之后还会继续然后做。

女孩们在教师踏过时，停了会闲聊。
